Celebrate New Hope Pride: CeCe Peniston at RRazz Room at the Raven

New Hope Free PressCeCe Peniston will take the stage at RRazz Room at the Raven on Saturday, May 21 during New Hope’s Annual Pride Festival.

Peniston gained notoriety in the 1990s as one of the most successful dance club artists, scoring five major number one hits in the chart within three years. After her recent appearance on an episode of the “Unsung” television series, she’s back in an exclusive area engagement with some new recordings and all the old great dance hits — “Finally,” Keep on Walkin’,” and “We Got a Love Thing.”

Peniston was born in 1969 in Dayton, Ohio, and is known not only as a recording artist, but also as a former beauty queen. Later raised in Arizona, she was the daughter of a military father, and she started singing at church and doing plays and musicals at school.

Peniston soon began writing pop lyrics while in class. The words of her international hit “Finally” were reportedly written during a chemistry class while thinking about dating in college.

Peniston appears at the RRaaz Room at the Raven on Saturday, May 21, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35 for general admission, an $50 for limited VIP “up-close” seating. Tickets are available online, or call (888) 596-1027.

The Raven is located at 385 W. Bridge St. in New Hope.
