New Hope abuzz with planning for National Honey Bee Day event this summer

beesBucks County Beekeepers Association (BCBA) is teaming up with the New Hope Chamber of Commerce and the New Hope Historical Society to put on a family-fun educational event commemorating National Honey Bee Day on Aug. 20.

It’s all happening on the grounds of the historic Parry Mansion in the heart of downtown New Hope at 45 S. Main St. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day.

“We hope to bring together beekeepers, bee associations, as well as other interested locals and visitors, to connect with the community and advance beekeeping and honey bees,” said BCBA President Kate Steck. “We also encourage potential sponsors, crafters, educators and vendors to join in and get involved.”

BCBA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting beekeeping in the local community through education and resource sharing.

“Bees are our most important crop pollinator and honey source, and they’re under attack from pesticides, disease and a multitude of problems,” says the BCBA.

Check out the BCBA online, or call (215) 862-3401 to get involved. And remember to save the date — Aug. 20 — and help save some bees.
