Give peace a chance at Buckingham Friends Peace Fair Sept. 19

peace fair 1 (1)The 2015 Peace Fair will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, in Lahaska at the Buckingham Friends meeting and school from 10:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Now in its 16th year, the event is organized and funded by Bucks area Quakers.

Dedicated to promoting harmony in the home, the community, the environment, and the world, Peace Fair provides a comfortable family-friendly atmosphere in which adults and children can learn about how others promote peaceful relations in their organizations and their own lives.  The Fair is nonsectarian and nonpartisan, and seeks to attract people of all beliefs and walks of life.

peace fair 2Dozens of information tables from organizations with peace-related messages and missions will be on display, and events include non-competitive activities for children like the human-powered peace train, fish pond, beanbag toss, darts for peace, and face painting. There will also be family-friendly live musical entertainment and food, including hamburgers, organic hot dogs, and veggie burgers. Also on view will be crafts by local artisans, and a “gently used” book sale.

Bucks County Poet Laureate Sandra Becker of Doylestown will headline readings by area poets under a giant oak from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
