Bucks County fall ritual: Annual Oyster Pork Supper at the Carversville Christian Church

new hope free press oyster pork supper carversvilleYes, it must be fall — as if all those kids waiting for buses each weekday morning wasn’t enough of a clue: Carversville Christian Church is hosting its 144th Oyster Pork Supper on Oct. 17.

The best thing about the supper is that it’s surf n’ turf, Bucks County-style. The centerpiece is the mouthwatering combo of lightly-fried fresh oysters, and lean, moist roast pork.

Add on some stewed tomatoes, creamed corn, mashed potatoes, cold slaw, applesauce, and dessert, and you’ve got a country-good meal for the family just a couple of miles from the center of New Hope.

Price for the supper is $20 for adults, $8 for children five to eight years old, and children under age five eat for free (how do they do that?). There’s even a live rock cover band to keep everybody entertained while they’re waiting to be served. Takeouts are available for $21.

It all takes place on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 3-8 p.m., or until sold out, at the Carversville Christian Church, 3736 Aquetong Road in Carversville; (215) 297-5166.
