At first glance, Sunday night’s Christmas tree lighting at the Logan Inn was much the same as it is every year in New Hope. And maybe that’s a good thing.

Many folks who care about such things know the background story — an initial failure of leadership, followed by a gleam of inspiration and much debate, hard work, and dedication. In the end, all sectors of New Hope’s diverse societal spectrum put aside their personal interests and pitched in where they could.

What needed to happen was for the tree to be lit, and on Nov. 30, 2014, New Hope got it done in the spirit of the season.

As our friend Linus reminds us, “And the angel said unto them, ‘Fear not! For, behold, I bring you tidings o great joy, which shall be to all my people!’

Peace on earth, and good will to all men and women.

  • They did a great job…great turn out…really big thank you to everyone involved. I hope everyone does some holiday shopping downtown this season; let’s show a little appreciation to some of the people that help make it a special place to live by donating their time, money, and effort.
