PECO energy workers continued to replace stressed poles today in the aftermath of last week’s lightening strike near South Main and West Mechanic Streets that had left traffic snarled and electric power down for some 700 homes. Repairs appeared to go smoothly, with no interruptions in power despite some fairly elaborate aerial maneuvers. Some merchants up the hill were less than thrilled at having access to West Mechanic Street blocked for yet another day. Hopefully, the traffic flow will now return to normal for those mom-and-pops fighting to survive in New Hope’s famed “Latin Quarter.”
