Shad Fest weekend 2013 in Lambertville

32nd Annual Shad Fest – April 27 & 28 Lambertville, NJ and New Hope, PA,12:30-5:30 p.m. both days –- no fee for admission,rain or shine! Each year the festival highlights the region’s arts community, the City of Lambertville, the Delaware River, and of course, the Shad! The Shad Festival has evolved from a local art show into a nationally recognized award-winning event.

Shad Fest features the area’s finest artists and crafters, great food and family entertainment, but the two-day extravaganza also serves as a venue for local non-profit organizations to raise necessary operating funds.Get your O’Fish’l Shad Fest T Shirt! Come to the centrally located Chamber table and pick up your O’fish’l Shad Fest T-Shirt designed by local artist and Shad Fest Scholarship recipient Jake Stephens.  This year for the first time, we’ll also have limited edition art cards featuring outstanding images produced from Shad Fest Scholarship Poster Auction posters. Among the artists represented are Robert Beck, Judy Henn, Jay McPhillips, Luiz Vilela, Myles Cavanaugh, Paul Matthews and Ty Hodanish.

Artists and Crafters: 80 of the region’s finest artists and crafters featuring everything – jewelry, ceramics, furniture, apparel, accessories, home décor and more!

 In The Food Court  everything from taco salads to fried Calamari! There will also be the tried and true favorites:  hot dogs, fried oreos, hamburgers, fries and fresh lemonade for the traditionalists! Don’t forget to try some of Wild Bill’s Olde Fashion Soda featuring wonderful homemade sodas like root beer, cream soda and sasparilla.

Where To Get Shad – 5 N. Union Street – you can get your shad fix at Ennis Market – Karen of Ennis Market will have lots of shad delights to sample – shad chowder and Shad wraps – you can also get roe and shad fillets to cook at home. Look for grilled shad outside at Lambertville Station (11 Bridge St.). Or, if you love shad roe – visit Hamilton’s Grill at 8 Coryell St. for a tasting of shad roe. The shad roe cooking demonstrations are Sat. & Sun from 1 to 3 pm. Everyone gets a taste!

Family fun  Face Painting, Cotton Candy, Sand Art, and other children’s activities can be found throughout the event . On Saturday, The Delaware River Basin Commission will be teaching us about how to test water quality down at Lewis Island. 

Shad Seining Demonstrations and Lewis Island Fishery Movie Don’t miss the fun and educational shad seining demonstrations down at Lewis Island. This year on Friday night, April 26, watch the fantastic movie They’re In The River on the history of Lewis Island at  Acme Screening Room located at 25 S. Union St. (Wheelchair accessible). Musical performances both days! The best of regional bands – listen to rock, blues, jazz fusion and more!

Poster Display and Auction  Over 150 original art posters, created and donated by local artists, are on display during Shad Festival weekend in the recreation room of the First Presbyterian Church, 31 N. Union St. These posters will be auctioned off on Sunday at 3 pm – the monies going to scholarships for students pursuing a collegiate career in the arts. Stop by the Church to see auction posters. PARKING AT SHAD FEST                                                                                                                          

Sections of Lambertville’s main streets will be closed for the festival, so do not try to drive all the way into town. Follow the parking signs to our lots and park for the entire day for $10. Shuttle buses will transport you to the festival from the lot located at the ESC School West Amwell Campus, 1422 Route 179, Lambertville, NJ 08530.  Another lot is located in the Rago Auctions parking lot located at 333 N. Main Street in Lambertville (behind the Auction building).
