New Hope rides out the storm; many without power

PECO estimates power restoration to parts of West Mechanic, New and Main streets tomorrow, Wednesday, around 11 p.m.; Old Mill Road 11 p.m. Thursday.

No school tomorrow for students in NHS District. Thursday opening still in question. Some employees still expected to work.

Latest from Chief Cummings of the New Hope PD: Power back up at WaWa, Logan Square, parts of Bridge Street, Triumph Brewery. PECO crews started cleaning up at 7 a.m. this morning. Solebury, Plumstead hard hit among others. More info coming from PECO today at 3:30 p.m. Some storm impacts police have been dealing with: One car crushed, one damaged on Old Mill Road from falling tree; tree fell on building on North Main Street housing dentist’s office (North Main Street still closed at this hour); three cars damaged on Old York Road.

Power update: Bucks currently has 185,000 PECO customers out of power, Montgomery 175,000 customers out. Within Bucks, Bensalem and Bristol have more than 22,000 outages each. In Montgomery County, Horsham, Upper Moreland and Montgomery Township each have more than 10,000 outages.

PECO says saturated ground and wind gusts may cause more downed trees. Contractors from other energy companies joining to restore power, but some outages are likely to last days, says PECO.
