The Cub Room, which bills itself as New Hope’s only dedicated LGBTQ+ establishment, has secured its future.
Cub Room owner Laura Sachs finalized a five-year- lease agreement last month with New Hope Lodge Partners, the property’s new owners.

The deal will make sure the establishment will stay open as the surrounding lodge undergoes a major overhaul.
The contract comes after Foyer Hospitality, the group behind the Michelin-recognized Anna and Bel boutique motel in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood, purchased the New Hope Lodge earlier this year for more than $3.8 million.
The Cub Room will remain operational throughout the property’s transformation.

Planned upgrades for the The Cub Room include a new greenhouse-style dining room, additional restroom facilities, and a relocated kitchen positioned adjacent to the current bar area.
According to a press release, the kitchen relocation is designed to improve efficiency and allow the culinary team to offer an expanded menu.

“I am thrilled to have secured a five-year lease that ensures The Cub Room will continue to serve New Hope and the surrounding region for years to come,” Sachs said. “This is not only an opportunity to preserve an important tradition, but also a responsibility that I take very seriously.”
Sachs added that she views the venue as “a community gathering place and a safe haven where people can be themselves,” adding her commitment to supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
Over the past four years, the Cub Room has grown from a small neighborhood tavern into a full-service restaurant and cocktail space. Its current programming features specialty cocktails, a happy hour, live musicians, piano bar evenings, and monthly outdoor tea dances, according to its owner.

The broader New Hope Lodge property is undergoing a complete renovation of its guest rooms.
A partner in the lodge’s new ownership said earlier this year, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal, that the ownership group is working to create “something really special” at the site.
