Allegiant Travel Company, a low-cost airline based in Las Vegas, announced recently that it will restore service to Trenton-Mercer Airport (TTN) starting in February.

Allegiant will begin offering three nonstop routes to Florida, joining Frontier Airlines as the only commercial carriers operating at Trenton-Mercer Airport, which is just minutes from Bucks County.

Allegiant previously operated flights from the airport but discontinued service in 2018 due due to lagging demand.

The new routes and start dates are:

  • Fort Lauderdale, Fla.: Begins Feb. 19
  • Punta Gorda, Fla.: Begins Feb. 20
  • St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Fla.: Begins Feb. 20

One-way fares to all three Florida destinations will start at $49.

Allegiant’s announcement comes amid part of a broader expansion that includes new service at three other airports: Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), La Crosse, Wis., and Columbia, Mo.

At Philadelphia International Airport, Allegiant will be starting up nonstop service to Des Moines, Iowa, Knoxville, Tenn., and Grand Rapids, Mich., in March.

“We’re thrilled to continue Allegiant’s growth by adding these new routes,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant’s chief commercial officer. “Our mission has always been to connect travelers to world-class destinations at an affordable price. These additions provide convenient options for leisure travelers and reflect our commitment to expanding service where demand is strong.”

The return of a second carrier comes as Trenton-Mercer Airport is working on a modernization.

The airport is working on an expansion project that includes a new parking garage and a new 125,000-square-foot terminal to replace the current terminal, which is nearly 50 years old.

The airport served 241,339 passengers in 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation Bureau of Transportation Statistics.

Earlier this summer, American Airlines began a bus service that uses luxury motorcoaches to shuttle passengers between Trenton-Mercer and Philadelphia International.
