Bucks Countians have a thirst for alcohol with 10.8 million units sold at Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores during the fiscal year spanning July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.
According to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board’s annual report, Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores in Bucks County generated more than $171.6 million in sales over the last year.
Three of the county’s state-owned liquor stores placed among the top 20 for sales in the commonwealth.
The Fine Wine and Good Spirits store on Pennsylvania Boulevard in Feasterville recorded more than $18.3 million in sales, making it the third-highest-selling location statewide. The store on Veterans Lane in Doylestown Borough followed closely with more than $16.6 million in sales, securing the fourth spot. The South State Street store in Newtown Borough also made the top 20, landing at 16th with $12.6 million in sales.
Three three top-selling Bucks County stores were among the best performing out of 582 locations across Pennsylvania.
Statewide, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board reported more than $3.2 billion in sales, which includes both liquor and sales taxes.
From Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, liquor sales more than $868.3 million was returned to the general fund, state, and local government in fiscal year 2023-2024.
Of those funds, more than $811.3 million was transferred to the General Fund, including $448.8 million in liquor tax, $177.4 million in state sales tax, and $185.1 million in other transfers. The Pennsylvania State Police received $33 million for the enforcement of liquor laws, according to data.
The Fine Wine and Good Spirits store in Logan Square in New Hope sold $7,386,234 last year.
In terms of overall county sales, Allegheny County led the state with $342 million, followed by Philadelphia County with $278.2 million, and Montgomery County with $246.7 million. Bucks County’s $171.6 million secured its fourth-place ranking, with Chester County rounding out the top five at $127.4 million.
For consumer choice in Bucks County, California Cabernet Sauvignon was the top-selling wine, while unflavored vodka remained the most popular spirit.
Across the state, popular brands included Tito’s as the number one unflavored vodka, High Noon as the top prepared spirits-based cocktail, and Josh California Cabernet Sauvignon as the leading red wine. Kendall-Jackson California Chardonnay was the top white wine, Silver Patron the number one tequila, Pinnacle Whipped the leading flavored vodka, Johnnie Walker Black Label the top scotch, Captain Morgan the number one spiced rum, Jim Beam Bourbon number one, and Crown Royal Peach the most popular Canadian whisky.
Bucks County is home to a large alcohol licensing landscape, with 353 restaurants, 56 hotels, 46 clubs, five continuing care retirement facilities, three economic development licenses and four performance arts spaces holding liquor licenses. The county has approximately 2.23 liquor licensees per 3,000 people, according to data.
