A U.S. military fighter jet intercepted a small plane over Central Bucks County on Saturday morning after it violated restricted airspace.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) confirmed the interception and stated the small plane entered a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) zone established over President Donald Trump’s golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey. The club is located 23 miles from New Hope Borough.

The TFR extended into parts of Bucks County.

Around 10 a.m., residents from New Hope to Doylestown reported hearing the distinctive roar of a jet engine as the fighter escorted the small plane.

NORAD, a joint U.S.-Canadian organization responsible for continental aerospace defense, said in a statement that Saturday’s incident was one of several, with “multiple” violations occurring on Friday.

Military officials pointed to the importance for pilots to verify airspace restrictions before flying.

Planes that violate TFRs are commonly met by fighter jets or military helicopters, and pilots are typically greeted by law enforcement upon landing.

President Trump had arrived at his Central New Jersey golf club on Friday and departed late Saturday afternoon for Washington D.C.
