Voter turnout for Tuesday’s municipal primary in Bucks County reached 25.8 percent.
There were 101,926 ballots counted out of 395,248 registered voters, according to the Bucks County Board of Elections.
The figure is expected to slightly rise as overseas and military ballots are tallied and challenged ballots are resolved.
Compared to previous municipal primaries, this year’s turnout falls between recent figures.
The last municipal primary in 2023 saw 21.89 percent participation, while 2021 recorded 25.98 percent. In 2019, turnout was significantly lower at 14.63 percent. The lowest municipal primary turnout in the past two decades for the county was 11.26 percent in 2013.
Municipal primaries typically experience lower voter engagement, but interest can fluctuate based on national political trends and the number of contested local races.
Bucks County’s municipal general elections since 2003 have not exceeded 43 percent voter turnout among those registered.
