Residents across Solebury Township have likely spotted more utility crews than usual this spring and summer.

PECO contractors are busy with a series of projects designed to bolster the local power grid, according to a notice from the township.

Asplundh crews aready already at work in the lower end of the township, south of Windy Bush Road, since late April. This work, which involves clearing trees and brush away from power lines, is expected to continue throughout the spring.

Asplundh will be reaching out directly to customers whose properties are affected and will be responsible for removing all vegetation debris created by their work, the township said.

In the historic Carversville section of Solebury, PECO will undertake a substantial upgrade to the local electric distribution system. The project will see the installation of more modern equipment, including new utility poles and what PECO describes as “tree-resistant aerial wires,” the township said.

The Carversville project will require tree removal and trimming along several key roads, including Carversville Road, Old Carversville Road, Fleecydale Road, Aquetong Road, River Road, and Sugan Road.

Tree work in Carversville started in mid-April, with the electrical equipment upgrades slated to commence once that phase is complete.

The entire Carversville project is anticipated to wrap up by mid-June.

PECO contractors have also pinpointed several specific trees posing a hazard to power lines near Pat Livezey Park.

Crews are expected to be in the area of Parkside Drive and Lower York Road during June and July to address these problematic trees.

The utility company noted that temporary electric service interruptions may be necessary to ensure the safety of both the crews and the public during this work.
