A major rehabilitation project on the New Hope-Lambertville Toll-Supported Bridge is complete.
The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission released some numbers on the extensive overhaul of the bridge that connects Bucks and Hunterdon counties:
• 127,000: Square feet of bridge-truss surfaces cleaned and repainted.
• 3: Coats of paint applied to the bridge: a prime coat, a mid-coat, and a finish coat.
• 700: Guide rail posts removed, repainted, and reinstalled.
• 2,100: Linear feet of new, painted “tri-beam” guide rails installed to protect steel trusses.
• 82,000: Linear feet of new electrical wiring installed.
• 17,300: Linear feet of new electrical conduit installed.
• 36,370: Linear feet of DMX cable installed for the new architectural lighting system.
• 9,000: Linear feet of fiber-optic cable installed for security cameras.
• 26: Roadway lights replaced.
• 1,800: Architectural lights installed, along with drivers, controllers, junction boxes, and a networked computer system.
• 900: Locations where steel components were repaired or replaced.
• 1: Custom-fabricated steel pin replaced – the first such replacement ever attempted and executed on a commission bridge.
• 1: Temporary custom-designed friction-collar stabilizing device used during the pin replacement.
The commission recently celebrated the lighting of the span over the Delaware River.
