Last Day To Apply For Mail-in Ballot Is Halloween

The Bucks County Board of Elections reminds voters that Tuesday, Oct. 31, is the last day to apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot ahead of this year’s municipal election.

Voters may request a mail-in or absentee ballot online or in-person at the Bucks County Board of Elections main office in Doylestown or the department’s satellite offices in Quakertown and Levittown. 

“The staff of the Board of Elections Office will be working extended hours through Nov. 7 to ensure all registered voters in Bucks County are able to exercise their right to vote,” said the county’s Chief Clerk Gail Humphrey. “Don’t forget to use your secrecy envelope, sign and date the outer envelope and, if you choose to return your ballot by mail, we’ve prepaid the postage.”

To be counted, mail-in and absentee ballots must be received by the Board of Elections Office by 8 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 7.

Through the County’s “on-demand” mail-in voting program, voters who apply in person receive their ballot immediately upon submitting their application, and have the option to complete and return their ballot directly to a Board of Elections employee. 

So far this election cycle, the Board of Elections Office has processed nearly 73,000 applications for mail-in and absentee ballots. Voters as of Oct. 26 had returned more than 33,000 ballots.

Each county ballot box is staffed by Board of Elections employees while open, and is locked when not in use. All boxes are under 24/7 video surveillance.

Voters are only allowed to return their own ballot, with the exception of those authorized as Designated Agents of another voter.

For those who choose to vote in person, polling places open at 7 a.m. on Election Day, and remain open until 8 p.m. or until the last voter in line has voted. Click here to find your polling place.
