A grim discovery was made Monday morning when two bodies were found inside a home.

At approximately 7:47 a.m., Buckingham Township police were dispatched to a residence in the Buckingham Springs Development at 1490 Durham Road after receiving a call from a man claiming he had shot his wife, police said.

Efforts to establish phone contact with the home were unsuccessful, prompting officers to approach the residence. A note taped to the front door directed the officers to get in touch with a specified family member, police said.

Inside, officers found an 88-year-old man deceased with a single gunshot wound to his head, police said.

A further search of the property led to the discovery of an 85-year-old woman, who was also deceased from a gunshot wound to her head, police said.

Letters addressed to family members were found, detailing instructions regarding the couple’s estate and burial, according to investigators.

There were no signs of forced entry, and nothing seems to have been taken from the house, police said.

Buckingham Township police and the Bucks County Coroner’s Office are investigating the deaths. Solebury Township police were among the agencies that responded to the call.

Police said they are still working to notify family, and that is why the names haven’t been released.
