A woman’s boutique has closed and a distillery will be taking its place.

In early June, Good Karma Clothing and Accessories at 20 South Main Street closed due to the owner moving out of the area.

Recently, Central Pennsylvania-based Nomad Distilling Company, which runs a tasting room in the lower level of the building, announced it is expanding to the street-level space.

Work on the new space was underway as of this week.

Distillery owners Frank and Sarah Kudlack opened the tasting room in late May.

Nomad Distilling, based in Williamsport, also operates a tasting room in Jim Thorpe, Carbon County.

“We are more than just a distillery! We are a bar made for gathering together to enjoy tastings and cocktails,” the owners wrote on the company’s website.

In 2018, the Kudlacks acquired the former Bastress Mountain Winery and Mountain Top Distillery near Williamsport. They rebranded it as Nomad Distilling, putting their own mark on the business and discontinuing wine production.

Good Karma Clothing and Accessories opened in the borough in July 2020.
