Following the recent death of New Hope Borough Vice President Laurie McHugh, the New Hope Borough Council is opening up an invitation for borough residents to forward their letters of interest or resumes if they wish to be considered for a temporary seat on the council.

McHugh, who held the vice presidential role on the council, left a vacancy that needs to be filled under state law.

The chosen candidate for this position will serve the remainder of the year, concluding their term on December 31.

Residents eager to serve their community on council should get their letters and resumes to Borough Manager Peter Gray no later than 4:30 p.m. on September 8. Submissions should be emailed to pgray@newhopeborough.org.

The New Hope Borough Council has scheduled a meeting on September 19. At that meeting, they will deliberate on the appointment of a candidate to fill McHugh’s seat.
