Canal Music Studios has opened after a relocation from the City of Lambertville to Stockton.

An opening celebration and ribbon cutting earlier this month was attended by local business leaders, government officials, students, teachers, and generous donors.

Founder Adrienne Walsh, along with Board President of the Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra, David DeFreese, and donor Dr. Rajani Walsh, officially cut the ribbon to mark the beginning of a new chapter for the renowned music school.

The move was prompted by damaged caused by Hurricane Ida and the resulting devastating flooding.

The new facility, spanning approximately 2,000 square feet, offers state-of-the-art instruments such as pianos and drums.

Situated in the serene borough of Stockton, Canal Music Studios at 16 Bridge Street is poised to provide more classes, expanded space, and innovative programming to its students, according to the studio.

Former student and recipient of the 2022 Jim Hamilton scholarship, Coco Smith, delighted attendees with a violin performance during the tour that followed the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Expressing enthusiasm for the arrival of Canal Music Studios, Stockton Mayor Aaron Lipson said: “We welcome Canal Music Studios to the borough of Stockton. Adrienne has already become an important part of the Stockton community, and we look forward to how their school will add to the vibrancy of our borough. We have a long and significant history of celebrating music and musicians in Stockton, and having the studio open just feet from Rogers and Hartโ€™s ‘small hotel with a wishing well’ is a great way to continue that tradition. Weโ€™re thrilled that Canal Music Studios will continue to train musicians who contribute to the artistic landscape of our area.”
