A Warren County man who works as a Hunterdon County corrections officer has been charged with sexually assaulting a child, according to authorities.

Jared Green, 35, of Pohatcong Township, was charged last week by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office with five counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, three counts of second-degree sexual assault, four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual contact.

The alleged illegal contact happened in Raritan Township, East Amwell Township, Alexandria Township, and Glen Gardner Township in Hunterdon County from 2011 to 2018, the prosecutor’s office said.

“The allegations did not arise in connection with Mr. Green’s employment,” authorities said.

The Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Office is reported to be cooperating with the investigation.

Green was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility last week pending his first court appearance.

“First-degree charges may result in criminal penalties including, but not limited to, a term of imprisonment between ten and twenty years and a fine not to exceed $200,000.00. Second-degree charges may result in criminal penalties including, but not limited to, a term of imprisonment between five and ten years and a fine not to exceed $150,000,” authorities said.
