Aquetong Road at the Route 232 (Windy Bush Road) intersection in Solebury Township will be restricted on Monday, July 29, and Tuesday, July 30, for tree trimming operations, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Friday.
Traffic during the trimming will be controlled by flagging, and motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area, PennDOT said.
Additionally, lane restrictions are scheduled on Aquetong Road between Old Windy Bush Road and Solebury Mountain Road from Monday, July 29, through Friday, Aug. 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.to allow workers to mill the existing roadway surface and repave it with new asphalt. The stretch had been closed this week .
Lastly, Aquetong Road will be closed and detoured between Route 232 (Windy Bush Road) and Sugan Road in Solebury Township on Monday, Aug. 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for tree removal operations.
During the closure, Aquetong Road motorists will be directed to use Route 232 (Windy Bush Road), Route 32 (Main Street), Route 179 (Bridge Street) and U.S. 202 (Lower York Road), according to PennDOT. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.
The work schedule is weather dependent. Giroud Tree and Lawn will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.
Aquetong Road is closed indefinitely between Routes 263 and 202 so PennDOT engineers can develop a plan to repair a stone masonry arch bridge originally built in 1850.
