Bluegrass and Blueberries Festival rolls into Peddler’s Village next weekend

Peddler’s Village in Lahaska celebrates National Blueberry Month this coming weekend with its annual Bluegrass and Blueberries Festival.

The family-friendly event takes place Saturday, July 20, and Sunday, July 21, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

The focus of the festival is, of course, locally grown, field-cultivated berries, along with live Bluegrass and Country bands playing throughout the village.

If you love blueberries, the fruit is available in virtually every variety of edible imaginable. Here’s the Bubba Gump-style list: blueberry shortcake on a donut, blueberry fritters, blueberry pies, blueberry butters/jellies/preserves, blueberry cake pops, lemon blueberry cupcakes, blueberry muffins, homemade blueberry fudge, blueberry popcorn, and blueberry/lemon parfaits.

If blueberry pie is your favorite, you can pre-order your fresh, double-crust, 9″ blueberry pie until 6 p.m. Friday and pick it up at the festival

Love dressing your pets up? Don’t miss the costumed pet parade on Sunday, July 21, at 3:30 p.m. The parade will start near Sunflowers, and travel to the Gazebo, where the pet with the best blue and musical-related costume will win a pet goody gift basket. Register by Monday to participate.
