Solebury Township police say the cause of a fire at a River Road home Thursday morning is suspicious, and are asking the public for tips.

The fire was reported at 7:40 a.m. by a passing motorist. New Hope Eagle Fire Company arrived on location to find the historic two-story dwelling on fire. Police say the fire caused moderate damage to the home, located on the 1600 block of Route 32 near Aquetong Road, which was unoccupied at the time.

Route 32 was shut down for several hours while firefighters tackled the blaze.

The Solebury Township Police Department, along with Bucks County and Pennsylvania State Police fire marshals, are investigating the fire.

The preliminary investigation showed the cause of the fire to be suspicious.  Solebury police are asking anyone who may seen any unusual people, activity or vehicles in the area between 6 and 7:40 a.m. Thursday to contact them at (215) 348-7400.
