New Hope Winery presents the Smithereens April 18-19

smithereensNew Hope Winery is proudly presenting the Smithereens live in concert for two nights in April — Saturday April 18 and Sunday April 19. The Smithereens are a classic American band from Carteret, NJ that got its start in the 80s and kept evolving over the next two decades. In recent years, they’ve played support for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, among other hijinx.

The band is mostly known for its 60s-inspired hyper pop, and starred as themselves in the indoor beach party scene of the movie Class of Nuke ‘Em High. The Smithereens’ zenith may well have been in 1990 when their album 11 attained the #41 spot on the Billboard pop charts with the single “A Girl Like You.”

Little-known factoid: the band name was coined from a frequent Yosemite Sam line (and you Warner Brothers fans know who you are).

On Saturday, April 18, the doors will open at 7 p.m., and showtime is at 8 p.m.. On Sunday, April 19, doors are at 5 p.m., and showtime at 6 p.m. VIP Reserve Seating is $45, and Reserved Seating is $35. Buy tickets online, or call (215) 794-2331.
