New Hope Chamber of Commerce says it will hold quarterly “open merchants’ meetings”

The Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday evening that it will hold its second “open merchants’ meeting” on Nov. 17, and host additional meetings thereafter on a quarterly basis. The Chamber held its first open community meeting on Aug. 26.

The Nov. 17 event will take place at 7 p.m. at the Cornerstone Event Center at Eagle Fire Company. Cornerstone Event Center has donated its facility for this and future meetings, including free parking, at no charge to the Chamber, the organization said.

“Our first ever meeting last month was a tremendous success,” said Chamber President Roger Green.  “We recruited six block captains, who have already held their first organizing meeting, and filled 18 volunteer slots on our committees.”

The Chamber also announced a new set of rules for their upcoming meeting, limiting audience questions to two minutes each, with one follow-up question per attendee. The move could afford broader audience participation, reasons the Chamber, but how it all works out in practice is anyone’s guess.

Be that as it may, scheduling more discussions with New Hope business owners seems to be a step in the right direction for the New Hope Chamber of Commerce in fulfilling its promise of better communication with the community.
