Laughs on the menu at ‘My Life on a Diet’ this week at Bucks County Playhouse

Joe_and_ReneeFor Renee Taylor, the definite things in life have been perseverance, performing, and dieting. The actress, who has been working in the entertainment biz for more than 60 years, brings her one-woman show about all three to the Bucks County Playhouse this week. “My Life on a Diet,” co-written and directed by her husband of 47 years, Joe Bologna, runs from Nov. 20 through 24.

During the show, Taylor will reveal what dieting advice she received from Joan Crawford and Marilyn Monroe, among other celebs. She’ll talk about the many stars she worked with and the funny things that happened along the way. During the performance, there will be videos and slides helping to take audiences on a nostalgic calorically-challenged trip down memory lane.

In addition to performing her one-woman show, Taylor plays Ted Mosby’s neighbor, Mrs. Matsen, on “How I Met Your Mother.” Many TV viewers will remember Taylor for her performance as Sylvia, Fran Drescher’s overbearing, food-loving mother on the hit show “The Nanny.” Taylor has appeared also in movies, on “The Tonight Show,” and on Broadway.
