Mike Mann will open “Special Places” -a show of his colorful paintings and lively drawings at Constantine Art & Jewelry on Friday evening, April 8 from 6 to 9pm. The newly renovated gallery located in the heart of New Hope’s art district is across Bridge St. from the historic train station and between New Hope Art Center and El Taco Loco. The artist will also be at the show that weekend from 11 to 4.

Mann, who prefers painting outdoors from life, studied at the Art Students’ League in NYC mainly under illustrator Steven R. (Joe) Kidd. Mann’s works in this show include oils, acrylics, watercolors and ink drawings. 95% of his paintings are done locally, as he usually goes by bicycle but Mann also loves painting in new places more often reached by jet. Also included is some new art done nearby. The artist says, “Painting this neighborhood feels like a new discovery. I’ve never painted this part of New Hope and it’s a beautiful section. Maybe I was just saving it for now!”
