“Sometimes we can be homesick for whole chapters all lived and gone but not finished, apparently not done. “ Diane Hanna

I live for connection. Being attached to people, places, and history is what grounds my work. I use my work as a vehicle to understanding those relationships. Whether it is abstract or reality driven, I begin by rambling through the images in my mind that tell me a story.

Currently, I am creating a series of images based mostly on photographs my grandmother took in the very early 1900’s. I am blending her images with colors and patterns from my own childhood, and coming up with a kind of historical mash up. I become obsessed with the themes that emerge, but that helps drive me deeper in the connections I am trying to make.

I like many different media. Each has a language that I feel speaks to my subject I am working on. Sometimes they are akin, sometimes they are at odds. That rapport is always part of the story. Color, texture, and pattern each have their voices, and each becomes part of the conversation
