Tyler Park Center for the Arts presents its annual Crafts in the Meadow juried art and craft show on October 18 and 19. The long-running show has become a beloved fall tradition in Bucks County, drawing artisans and art enthusiasts from well outside the region.
“Crafts in the Meadow has developed a reputation that extends beyond the Bucks County area because of the exceptional quality of the work featured here,” says Rebecca Gensel, board president of Tyler Park Center for the Arts. “People travel from halfway across the country to attend the show, which is why we work hard to make it a destination for the weekend, with hands-on activities for all ages, incredible food vendors, and an outstanding lineup of live music.”
This year, that musical slate includes WXPN favorites Kwesi K (www.kwesik.com), Nalani & Sarina (www.nalanisarina.com), J.D Malone
(www.jdmalone.com), and John Beacher and the Common Ground (www.johnbeacher.com). There will be a total of 12 acts performing on the main
music stage over the course of the weekend.
More than 100 fine artists and craftspeople exhibit and sell their work at Crafts in the Meadow, including jewelers, printmakers, photographers, leather
workers, fiber artists, ceramicists, and wood workers. All of the usual favorites will be present, as well as artists new to Crafts in the Meadow, such as Eileen Cressman-Reeder, a sculptor who elevates polymer clay to new heights, and Michael Reimer, who specializes in gyotaku, a traditional Japanese printmaking technique that uses the bodies of fish.
“There’s such a great vibe at Crafts in the Meadow,” says Ty Hodanish, a Crafts in the Meadow juror and noted Bucks County Impressionist painter. “It’s
organized and attended by people who have a deep appreciation of the effort and vision required to take a craft to the next level. And people who come in as casual visitors leave with a better understanding of the work, because they get to engage with professional artists and take part in hands-on activities like painting and wheel-thrown pottery.”
Crafts in Meadow, the fall invitational craft show at Tyler State Park, takes place Saturday and Sunday, October 18 and 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine.
Admission is $6 and supports the nonprofit Tyler Park Center for the Arts. There is no charge for children under 12 and reduced admission for those who bring a nonperishable food item to the gate for donation to the Wrightstown Food
