Ridin’ with Biden: New Hope, Solebury supporters join car parade

New Hope and Solebury supporters of presidential candidate Joseph Biden will meet at Logan Square on Sunday to decorate their vehicles with signs, flags, and banners and head to Doylestown to join the “Ridin with Biden Car Rally” in the heart of Bucks County.

Voters from a dozen local Democratic and progressive groups organized the event as part of their efforts to “pull out all the stops” for a Biden win. Bucks County tilted toward Hillary Clinton in 2016 by less than a percentage point.

“People and communities across Bucks County are excited to unite together in support of Joe Biden,” said Sue-Ann DiVito, an event organizer with the Solebury Democrats. “There is a choice in this election — we choose hope over fear. We are so excited to celebrate our democratic candidates up and down the ballot!”

New Hope and Solebury riders will meet up at the New Hope mural near the Giant store in Logan Square to decorate their cars and trucks starting at noon on Sunday. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative and decked out vehicles, the first 20 of which will receive an American flag.

Decorated vehicles will leave Logan Square at 1 p.m. to join the Doylestown parade from 2 to 3 p.m. The several-mile route will include a loop through downtown Doylestown on Main Street.

Promoters emphasized that the event will adhere to covid-19 prevention protocols.

“Local organizers have spent weeks planning this family-friendly, covid-safe parade,” said DiVito.

Participants can also sign up for the Biden-Harris Conga Line that will dance across the New Hope-Lambertville free bridge on Oct. 28 from 4 to 6 p.m.
