South Main Street in New Hope gets new crosswalks

PennDOT workers paint crosswalks at South Main and Ferry streets.

Taking a stroll around New Hope just got a little safer.

Workers with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) on Tuesday painted new crosswalks at the intersection of South Main and East/West Mechanic streets and at South Main and East/West Ferry streets.

The two intersections see a fair amount of foot traffic, especially on weekends, and can be challenging to cross in any direction.

The work was funded by a $126,700 PennDOT Multimodal Transportation Fund Grant that the borough was awarded in 2015 for new curb ramps and crosswalks along Main Street to help make it more pedestrian friendly and safe.
