Concordia ChamberFest at Glen Oaks Farm in Solebury Kicks Off Sept. 16

concordia-fiddleFor the second year in a row, the 2016 Concordia ChamberFest will be wowing audiences at the barn at Glen Oaks Farm in Solebury, this time around from Sept. 16-18.

“The theme, ‘The Newness of it All,’ reflects the tremendous impact of each of the featured composer’s contributions to the development of music over centuries,” say organizers.

The Friday, Sept. 16 concert will include works by Bruce Adolphe, Wolfgang A. Mozart, and Ludwig van Beethoven. At the Sunday, Sept. 17 concert, Concordia will perform works by Johann S. Bach, Aaron Copland and Robert Schumann (see full programs below). There will be light refreshment served at the receptions for each concert.

In addition to the two main concerts, Concordia will be holding open rehearsals on Sept. 14 and 17 which will give the audience a glimpse into how chamber musicians prepare these works for concert day. Admission is free for the open rehearsal, which will be held at the Free Library of New Hope & Solebury from 2-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14. Concordia will be rehearsing the Mozart Clarinet Quintet, K. 581 and the Beethoven String Quintet, Op. 29. Both are major works in the chamber music repertoire and sure to please everyone.

  • It’s going to be a wonderful weekend! I just wanted to note that the beautiful illustration by Alex Cohen is from LAST YEAR’S Chamberfest. Just wanted to clarify in case it was confusing… As noted in the article, The 2016 Chamberfest is this Friday through Sunday, September 16-18.

    • Thanks, Teresa! Photo came up when I hit a different part of the page, and I fell in love with the painting w/o checking dates…luckily we were able to correct. Is Alex Cohen local? Thanks!
