New Hope and Lambertville police blotters: thefts, paraphernalia posessions, DUIs

August 17, 2014 –  At 1:22 a.m. Police cited Gregory Stem, 30, of Bloomsbury, NJ, for Harassment and Public Drunkenness, after he created a disturbance inside a South Main Street establishment.

August 18, 2014 –  A Brooklyn, NY woman reported to police that three days prior approximately $4,000 worth of jewelry had been stolen from her room at a West Bridge Street Bed and Breakfast.

August 18, 2014 –  At 4:30 p.m. a New Street resident reported to police that at some time during the prior three days,someone had stolen his red Vespa motorcycle, valued at $1,200, from outside his residence.

August 23, 2014 –  At 6:50 p.m. Police cited a 15 year old from Pennington, NJ, for Retail Theft, after he removed a Native American necklace/pouch, valued at $90, from a South Main Street establishment.

Case #14004885:

Brandon C. Ennis, 22, of Lambertville was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia on August 13.

Ptl. Bast and Lt. Brown responded to Quarry Street for an anonymous report of an odor of marijuana in the area. Upon arrival, patrols met with Ennis who was sitting outside of his residence. Subsequent to investigation, Ennis was found to be in possession of a glass pipe containing suspected burnt marijuana. Ennis was placed under arrest and charged for the offense. Ennis was given a pending court date.

Case #14004894:

On August 14, Ptl. Weber responded to George Street for a criminal mischief report. Upon arrival, Ptl. Weber met with complainant, Michael Payton, 62, of Hamilton, NJ. Payton indicated that he owns property on George Street, and had been making repairs to his rear porch. On this date, Payton observed what appeared to be cigarette burns to the porch, and also found what appeared to be human feces on the sidewalk near where the burn marks were located. At this time there are no suspects or witnesses.

Case #14005033:

On August 17, Ptl. Gramlich investigated a report of theft from Elm Street. Upon arrival, Ptl. Gramlich met with the victim, Daniel A. Popkin, 54, of Lambertville. Popkin indicated a four to five foot length of black iron railing was unbolted and removed from the front porch of rental property he owns. At this time there are no suspects or witnesses.

Case #14005142:

Zachary R. Johnson, 19, of Lambertville, was arrested for DUI on August 21.

Lt. Brown stopped Johnson on Route 179 a little after 11 p.m., after he was allegedly observed driving erratically. Johnson was determined to be under the influence of alcohol, and subsequently arrested. Johnson was charged with DUI, failure to stop at a traffic light and reckless driving. He was later released with a pending court date.

Case #14005529:

On September 4, Lt. Brown observed Ernest Foley, 49, of Philadelphia in Cavallo Park at 9:56 p.m.. Foley was issued a special summons complaint for being in the park after hours.

Case #14005535:

Brian D. Case Jr., 27, of Lambertville, was arrested for possession of CDS paraphernalia on September 5.

Lt. Brown stopped a vehicle which failed to dim its high beam headlights in the area of Grant Avenue. Lt. Brown allegedly detected the strong odor of burnt marijuana. Case was the rear seat passenger in the vehicle, and admitted to smoking marijuana and turned over a glass pipe to Lt. Brown. Subsequently, Case was arrested and charged with CDS paraphernalia. He was later released with a pending court date.

Case #14005542:

Brian Sweeney, 31, of Philadelphia was arrested on September 5 for an outstanding warrant.

Ptl. Albani observed Case driving without a seat belt in the area of State Highway 29 and Alexauken Creek Road. Ptl. Albani stopped Sweeney in the area of North Main Street and Ely Field. Subsequent to investigation, Sweeney was found to have and active warrant issued from Wildwood, NJ in the amount of $211 dollars. Sweeney was arrested and processed for the warrant. Sweeney was also charged with failing to wear a seat belt, unlicensed driver and failing to exhibit a valid registration card. Sweeney was R.O.R. on the warrant and given a pending court date for the motor vehicle summons.

Case #14005544:

Ptl. Memolo investigated the theft of a golf cart from the Lambertville Station Inn.

An employee of the Inn reported to Ptl. Memolo a golf cart used by the Inn employees had been taken sometime during the night. Ptl. Memolo found the golf cart wedged in trees along the canal tow path.

Case #14005558:

Jozsef Gartai, 58, of Princeton, was arrested for DUI on September 5.

Ptl. Bast stopped Gartai in the area of County Route 518 a little after 11 p.m. after he was allegedly observed driving erratically. Gartai was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and subsequently arrested. Gartai was charged with DUI, speeding, reckless driving and failing to keep to the right. He was later released with a pending court date.

Case #14005565:

Brett J. Simon, 20, of Titusville was arrested for DUI on September 6.

Ptl. Bast stopped Simon in the area of North Main Street and Jefferson Street at 2:58 a.m., after he was allegedly observed driving erratically. Simon was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and subsequently arrested. Simon was charged with DUI and careless driving. He was later released with a pending court date.
